Meaning, material & care

The details behind this piece.

A pendant necklace in Agate, Brass, Thokcha and Textile Cord, and it belongs to Tsering Treasures, a series centred on warm metals, carved detail and mixed materials. Physically it is a form that hangs from the collarbone, with the centre detail doing most of the visual work.

Material by material, here is what is in play: Agate — a banded, gently translucent stone whose layers catch light at the polished surface. In wear, it is a hard, durable stone for everyday wear, though a sharp edge can chip against a hard surface. Brass — a warm yellow metal with a slightly duller, more golden surface than copper. In wear, it develops a darker tone and, in damp air, a green-ish film that buffs away. Thokcha — a dark, heavily patinated metal surface with an uneven, hand-worked feel. In wear, the patina is part of the surface and will shift slowly with handling rather than stay uniform. Textile Cord — a tight woven cord with a matte, slightly fibrous surface. In wear, it stays soft against the skin and holds a knot well, but a daily-worn strand will fray where it rubs a clasp.

A small repeating emblem runs through the design, drawn from the collection’s visual language.

Worn on its own it reads as a single considered point of detail; worn in a layer it sits well above or below a finer chain. It is meant to be worn rather than kept aside, and the surfaces are chosen to change gradually with use.

Drop length decides how a pendant reads: shorter chains sit near the collarbone and longer ones hang toward the chest. Because the materials are natural, expect minor variation in tone and pattern between the photographed piece and yours. Availability, the final measurements and the preparation window are confirmed with you in writing before any payment is taken.

Care

Wipe it with a soft dry cloth and store it separately so the polish is not scratched by other jewellery. Wipe it dry after wear; a soft cloth restores the shine, and any intentional antique finish should be left alone. Keep it dry, do not over-polish it, and wipe it gently with a soft cloth. Keep it dry, avoid perfume and household chemicals, and replace the cord once the fibres begin to lift. Storing it apart from other pieces keeps the surface in the condition it arrived in.
