Meaning, material & care

The details behind this piece.

The piece is a charm worked in Carnelian, Tiger Eye, Obsidian, Agate, Amber-Tone and Copper. It belongs to Tsering Treasures, a series centred on warm metals, carved detail and mixed materials. The proportions are kept to a compact hanging piece, which keeps the piece easy to wear rather than heavy on the eye.

Material by material, here is what is in play: Carnelian — warm orange-to-red chalcedony with a smooth, lightly waxy surface. In wear, it is hard and holds colour well, making it a dependable choice for everyday strands. Tiger Eye — golden-brown bands that shift and brighten as the piece turns, an effect specific to the stone. In wear, it is hard and holds a polish well, so it is one of the more forgiving stones for a daily-worn bracelet. Obsidian — a near-black volcanic glass with a deep, mirror-like surface. In wear, it takes a very high polish but is more brittle than crystalline stone, so it chips rather than scratches. Agate — a banded, gently translucent stone whose layers catch light at the polished surface. In wear, it is a hard, durable stone for everyday wear, though a sharp edge can chip against a hard surface. Amber-Tone — a warm honey-to-cognac translucent material. In wear, the colour reads deeper in low light and brighter when held against the light, and a soft surface marks more easily than stone. Copper — warm reddish metal with a soft, low-glare surface. In wear, it darkens toward a brown patina with wear and skin contact, which some owners prefer and others polish back.

It works as a small added detail — on a phone loop, a pouch, a bag strap or a keyring — rather than as a main piece. It is meant to be worn rather than kept aside, and the surfaces are chosen to change gradually with use.

Check the attachment style and the finished length against what you want to hang it on; both are confirmed from the current piece before payment. Because the materials are natural, expect minor variation in tone and pattern between the photographed piece and yours. Availability, the final measurements and the preparation window are confirmed with you in writing before any payment is taken.

Care

Wipe it dry after wear and avoid prolonged soaking. Wipe it dry and store it separately; nothing beyond avoiding long soaking is needed. Avoid impact at edges and store it separately so the polished surface is not marked. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth and store it separately so the polish is not scratched by other jewellery. Keep it away from alcohol, perfume and heat, and wipe it with a dry soft cloth only. Wipe it dry after wear and store it away from damp air; polish only with a copper-safe cloth if you want the original brightness. Storing it apart from other pieces keeps the surface in the condition it arrived in.
