Meaning, material & care

The details behind this piece.

The agate leads here, and it is a banded, gently translucent stone whose layers catch light at the polished surface. Set against that, the yak bone is an ivory-toned organic material, matte and slightly porous, with natural grain marks. As a shape it is a hanging piece that sits at the collarbone. It belongs to Tsering Treasures, a series centred on warm metals, carved detail and mixed materials.

The individual materials are described below, since each has a different tolerance for water, light and knocks. The agate is a banded stone that stays faintly translucent, so each layer picks up light differently. Worn regularly, it takes daily knocks without dulling, though a thin edge can still chip against stone or metal. Yak Bone needs a separate note: it is light, warm to the touch and slightly absorbent, so it ages fastest where it meets skin. The bone appears as a pale, matte organic material with visible grain and a slight tonal difference between beads. Against the skin, it is light in the hand and warm to the touch, but softer than stone and it dislikes knocks.

We ask for a measurement rather than offering a generic size, and confirm the finished fit in writing. The photographs and the written summary carry the same detail, so nothing about the selected piece is left to assumption. Protection is presented as cultural context and a personal reminder, not a guaranteed result. Natural materials vary, so tone, mark and grain will differ slightly from the photographed piece. Availability, the final measurements and the preparation window are confirmed with you in writing before payment.

Care

Wipe it with a soft dry cloth and store it separately so the polish is not scratched by other jewellery. Keep it dry, out of prolonged sun, and never soak it. Keep it dry, out of prolonged sun, and wipe it gently; ask before using any cleaner. Water, perfume and cleaning products are the three things most likely to shorten its life. Wipe it after wear, store it dry and away from direct sun, and it will need very little else.
