The first decision in this design was the agate, a banded, gently translucent stone whose layers catch light at the polished surface. Beside it, the yak bone is an ivory-toned organic material, matte and slightly porous, with natural grain marks, so the piece reads in two registers at once. The proportions are kept to a hanging piece that sits at the collarbone, and the design belongs to Tsering Treasures, a series centred on warm metals, carved detail and mixed materials.
The piece mixes several materials, and each one has its own habits in wear. The agate appears as a banded stone that stays faintly translucent, so each layer picks up light differently. Against the skin, it takes daily knocks without dulling, though a thin edge can still chip against stone or metal. Yak Bone is a different case in wear: it is light, warm to the touch and slightly absorbent, so it ages fastest where it meets skin. The bone is a pale, matte organic material with visible grain and a slight tonal difference between beads. Over months of wear, it is light in the hand and warm to the touch, but softer than stone and it dislikes knocks.
The design is offered in two configurations — “Style 1 / 16 pieces” and “Style 2 / 18 pieces” — so the choice is about the option rather than the size. The photographs and the written summary carry the same detail, so nothing about the selected piece is left to assumption. The protective reading of this piece is a wearer’s reminder, not a result it guarantees. Because the stones are selected individually, small variations in colour depth and marking should be expected. The piece, its dimensions and the preparation window are set out in writing first, and only then is payment taken.
Care
Wipe it with a soft dry cloth and store it separately so the polish is not scratched by other jewellery. Keep it dry, out of prolonged sun, and never soak it. Keep it dry, out of prolonged sun, and wipe it gently; ask before using any cleaner. Remove it before a shower or a swim, and dry it fully if it does get wet. Keep it out of a damp room and separate from harder pieces, and the finish will hold far longer.
