Meaning, material & care

The details behind this piece.

What you notice first is the thokcha — a dark, heavily patinated metal surface with an uneven, hand-worked feel. The form is a piece made to be handled rather than worn, and it belongs to Tsering Treasures, a series centred on warm metals, carved detail and mixed materials. The Buddha motif is rendered as a seated figure in shallow relief. It is drawn from Buddhist visual tradition and gives the design a composed, symmetrical centre; its meaning sits with the wearer rather than in any promised outcome.

The piece mixes several materials, and each one has its own habits in wear. Thokcha is a different case in wear: the patina is part of the surface and will shift slowly with handling rather than stay uniform.

Two options are listed, namely “Style 1” and “Style 2”. Tell us how you intend to wear it and we will point at the option that suits it. The theme is strength as a quiet cue; no result is implied by the material. Slight differences in shade, inclusion and grain between pieces are inherent to the materials. The selected piece, its measurements and the preparation window are confirmed in writing before you pay.

Care

Keep it dry, do not over-polish it, and wipe it gently with a soft cloth. Take it off before swimming, bathing or washing up; prolonged water is the most common cause of avoidable wear. Store the piece separately so it does not scratch against harder jewellery.

A note on meaning
