Meaning, material & care

The details behind this piece.

The cinnabar sets the tone: a deep red material with a dense, almost matte surface. Set against that, the tiger eye is a golden-brown banded stone that shifts and brightens as the piece turns. As a shape it is a matched group of pieces. It belongs to Tsering Treasures, a series centred on warm metals, carved detail and mixed materials.

A short account of the materials, taken in the order they matter to the design. Cinnabar is a different case in wear: the colour is even and strong, and the surface is firm but dislikes abrasion. Tiger Eye — a banded stone whose gold and brown lines move with the light as the piece turns. Day to day, it is hard and takes a good polish, so it survives daily wear better than most stones. The obsidian appears as a near-black volcanic glass with a deep, mirror-like surface. Against the skin, it takes a very high polish but is more brittle than crystalline stone, so it chips rather than scratches. Inside the piece, the agate is a banded stone that stays faintly translucent, so each layer picks up light differently. Handled often, it takes daily knocks without dulling, though a thin edge can still chip against stone or metal. The silver-tone metal is a bright silver-coloured metal finish rather than solid silver. Over months of wear, it keeps its tone with normal wear, and a plated surface can thin over years of daily contact. Copper — a warm red-brown metal that never glares back at you. In everyday use, its surface deepens in tone the longer it is worn, so the colour you receive keeps moving. The brass appears as a warm yellow metal with a slightly duller, more golden surface than copper. Worn against fabric, it develops a darker tone and, in damp air, a green-ish film that buffs away.

The design is offered in three configurations — “NECKLACE”, “BRACELET” and “NECKLACE & BRACELET” — so the choice is about the option rather than the size. Sizing runs across three stated ranges: 6.75–8 in, up to 9.5–10.5 in. Ask us for a photograph on a measured wrist if the difference between two options is unclear. What this design carries is cultural context and a personal meaning, and both belong to the wearer. Each selected piece has its own colour balance and marking, so treat the photograph as a close guide rather than an exact sample. Availability, the final measurements and the preparation window are confirmed with you in writing before payment.

Care

Avoid water, heat and household chemicals, and store the piece separately to prevent scuffing. Wipe it dry and store it separately; nothing beyond avoiding long soaking is needed. Avoid impact at edges and store it separately so the polished surface is not marked. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth and store it separately so the polish is not scratched by other jewellery. Keep it away from water, perfume and abrasive cloths so the finish lasts longer. Wipe it dry after wear and store it away from damp air; polish only with a copper-safe cloth if you want the original brightness. Wipe it dry after wear; a soft cloth restores the shine, and any intentional antique finish should be left alone. Wipe it after wear, store it dry and away from direct sun, and it will need very little else.
