Meaning, material & care

The details behind this piece.

What you notice first is the turquoise — a blue-to-green stone, usually opaque, often carrying a darker matrix web across the surface. The second note is the lapis lazuli — a deep blue stone, usually with flecks of gold-tone pyrite and white calcite through it. The proportions are kept to a matched group of pieces, and the design belongs to Tsering Treasures, a series centred on warm metals, carved detail and mixed materials.

What follows is a plain description of each material, including how it changes. Inside the piece, the turquoise is an opaque blue-green stone, with a darker matrix webbing that shifts piece to piece. Handled often, being soft and slightly porous, it prefers to be kept clear of hard contact. Lapis Lazuli is a different case in wear: it is a softer stone than quartz and will dull where it is rubbed repeatedly. Cinnabar — a deep red material with a dense, almost matte surface. In everyday use, the colour is even and strong, and the surface is firm but dislikes abrasion. The agate is a banded, gently translucent stone whose layers catch light at the polished surface. Worn against fabric, it is a hard, durable stone for everyday wear, though a sharp edge can chip against a hard surface. Inside the piece, the silver-tone metal is a bright cool-toned metal finish, plated rather than solid silver. With regular wear, the finish holds up well day to day, though a plated layer thins gradually where it rubs. The copper appears as a warm reddish metal with a soft, low-glare surface. Worn regularly, it darkens toward a brown patina with wear and skin contact, which some owners prefer and others polish back. Brass — a warm yellow metal, softer in colour than copper and slightly less reflective. Day to day, it darkens with use, and in humid air it can take on a green film that wipes away easily.

The piece lists three configurations, namely “NECKLACE”, “BRACELET” and “NECKLACE & BRACELET”. Sizing runs across three stated ranges: 6.75–8 in, up to 9.5–10.5 in. Send a measurement rather than a size letter and we will match the closest available option. The motif is a reminder of what the wearer chooses to hold in mind, not a guarantee of anything. Slight differences in shade, inclusion and grain between pieces are inherent to the materials. Nothing is charged until the exact piece and its measurements have been confirmed with you in writing.

Care

Keep it away from perfume, sunscreen, soap and household cleaners, none of which the stone tolerates well. Keep it away from water, soap, perfume and household cleaners. Avoid water, heat and household chemicals, and store the piece separately to prevent scuffing. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth and store it separately so the polish is not scratched by other jewellery. Keep it away from water, perfume and abrasive cloths so the finish lasts longer. Wipe it dry after wear and store it away from damp air; polish only with a copper-safe cloth if you want the original brightness. Wipe it dry after wear; a soft cloth restores the shine, and any intentional antique finish should be left alone. Store the piece separately so it does not scratch against harder jewellery.
