Meaning, material & care

The details behind this piece.

The sterling silver sets the tone: a bright white metal with a cool tone and a high polish. The silver-tone metal provides the counterweight, being a bright silver-coloured metal finish rather than solid silver. Physically it is a strand that sits at the wrist. The piece belongs to Lhasa Moments, a series built around highland light, stone colour and architectural lines.

Material behaviour explains most of what happens to a piece after a year of wear, so it is worth being specific. The sterling silver is a cool white metal that takes a mirror-bright polish. Worn regularly, softer than steel, it collects fine scratches, and the surface slowly shifts toward a darker tone. Silver-Tone Metal — a bright cool-toned metal finish, plated rather than solid silver. Day to day, the finish holds up well day to day, though a plated layer thins gradually where it rubs. The textile cord appears as a tight woven cord with a matte, slightly fibrous surface. Against the skin, it stays soft against the skin and holds a knot well, but a daily-worn strand will fray where it rubs a clasp.

Two options are listed, namely “Style 1” and “Style 2”. Three wrist ranges are listed, spanning 6.5–8 in at the smallest and 9.5–10.5 in at the largest. Both options are made to the same visual proportions, so the choice is about fit rather than look. What the motif carries is symbolic, and the meaning it takes on is the wearer’s to decide. Treat the photograph as a close guide: hand-worked surfaces carry small differences piece to piece. We confirm the current piece, the finished dimensions and the lead time in writing before any payment.

Care

Keep it dry, store it in a low-air space, and use a non-abrasive silver cloth when you want the original brightness back. Keep it away from water, perfume and abrasive cloths so the finish lasts longer. Keep it dry, avoid perfume and household chemicals, and replace the cord once the fibres begin to lift. Water, perfume and cleaning products are the three things most likely to shorten its life. Wipe it after wear, store it dry and away from direct sun, and it will need very little else.
