Meaning, material & care

The details behind this piece.

The turquoise carries the design, and it is a blue-to-green stone, usually opaque, often carrying a darker matrix web across the surface. The sterling silver provides the counterweight, being a bright white metal with a cool tone and a high polish. Physically it is a matched pair, balanced for weight. The piece belongs to Lhasa Moments, a series built around highland light, stone colour and architectural lines.

Each material behaves differently, so it is worth knowing how the parts age before you choose. The turquoise is an opaque blue-green stone, with a darker matrix webbing that shifts piece to piece. Worn regularly, being soft and slightly porous, it prefers to be kept clear of hard contact. Sterling Silver — a cool white metal that takes a mirror-bright polish. Day to day, softer than steel, it collects fine scratches, and the surface slowly shifts toward a darker tone. The silver-tone metal appears as a bright silver-coloured metal finish rather than solid silver. Against the skin, it keeps its tone with normal wear, and a plated surface can thin over years of daily contact. Inside the piece, the copper is a warm red-brown metal that never glares back at you. Handled often, its surface deepens in tone the longer it is worn, so the colour you receive keeps moving. The brass is a warm yellow metal with a slightly duller, more golden surface than copper. Over months of wear, it develops a darker tone and, in damp air, a green-ish film that buffs away.

Two options are listed, namely “Copper” and “Silver”. Tell us how you intend to wear it and we will point at the option that suits it. The protective reading of this piece is a wearer’s reminder, not a result it guarantees. The photographed piece is a representative example; natural variation in the selected piece is expected. We confirm the current piece, the finished dimensions and the lead time in writing before any payment.

Care

Keep it away from perfume, sunscreen, soap and household cleaners, none of which the stone tolerates well. Keep it dry, store it in a low-air space, and use a non-abrasive silver cloth when you want the original brightness back. Keep it away from water, perfume and abrasive cloths so the finish lasts longer. Wipe it dry after wear and store it away from damp air; polish only with a copper-safe cloth if you want the original brightness. Wipe it dry after wear; a soft cloth restores the shine, and any intentional antique finish should be left alone. Keep it out of a damp room and separate from harder pieces, and the finish will hold far longer.
