The first decision in this design was the turquoise, a blue-to-green stone, usually opaque, often carrying a darker matrix web across the surface. The second note comes from the sterling silver: a bright white metal with a cool tone and a high polish. It takes the form of a band built around a centre detail, and it belongs to Lhasa Moments, a series built around highland light, stone colour and architectural lines.
The individual materials are described below, since each has a different tolerance for water, light and knocks. Against the skin, being soft and slightly porous, it prefers to be kept clear of hard contact. Inside the piece, the sterling silver is a cool white metal that takes a mirror-bright polish. Handled often, softer than steel, it collects fine scratches, and the surface slowly shifts toward a darker tone. The silver-tone metal is a bright silver-coloured metal finish rather than solid silver. Over months of wear, it keeps its tone with normal wear, and a plated surface can thin over years of daily contact.

Keep it away from perfume, sunscreen, soap and household cleaners, none of which the stone tolerates well. Keep it dry, store it in a low-air space, and use a non-abrasive silver cloth when you want the original brightness back. Keep it away from water, perfume and abrasive cloths so the finish lasts longer. Remove it before a shower or a swim, and dry it fully if it does get wet. Storing it apart from other pieces keeps the surface in the condition it arrived in.
