Everything else in the piece is arranged around the black obsidian, a near-black volcanic glass with a deep, mirror-like surface. The white chalcedony answers with a soft, milky translucent stone with a waxy surface, which keeps the palette from settling into a single note. As a shape it is a strand that sits at the wrist. It belongs to Tsering Treasures, a series centred on warm metals, carved detail and mixed materials. The Buddha motif is rendered as a seated figure in shallow relief. Black Obsidian is a different case in wear: it takes a very high polish but is more brittle than crystalline stone, so it chips rather than scratches. White Chalcedony needs a separate note: it is durable, with a finish that shows less marking than a hard gloss. Inside the piece, the ivory fruit is a pale, carved organic material used for small bead and charm shapes. Handled often, it is light and takes fine detail, but is softer than stone and dislikes knocks. The ebony wood appears as a deep brown-black wood with a fine, close grain. Over months of wear, it is light in the hand and warms with handling; wood responds to humidity over time. Copper — a warm red-brown metal that never glares back at you. In everyday use, its surface deepens in tone the longer it is worn, so the colour you receive keeps moving.

Avoid impact at edges and store it separately so the polished surface is not marked. Wipe it dry and keep it away from household chemicals. Keep it dry and away from prolonged sun, and wipe it gently. Keep it out of water and very dry air, and wipe it with a dry cloth. Wipe it dry after wear and store it away from damp air; polish only with a copper-safe cloth if you want the original brightness. Put it on last and take it off first, and keep it in its own pouch between wears.
