Meaning, material & care

The details behind this piece.

Everything else in the piece is arranged around the tiger eye, a golden-brown banded stone that shifts and brightens as the piece turns. And where the first is quiet, the obsidian is a near-black volcanic glass with a deep, mirror-like surface. The proportions are kept to a strand that sits at the wrist, and the design belongs to Tsering Treasures, a series centred on warm metals, carved detail and mixed materials. The pi xiu appears as a compact seated creature figure. It is a traditional Chinese motif, used here for the strength of its silhouette and its place in that visual tradition.

Material behaviour explains most of what happens to a piece after a year of wear, so it is worth being specific. Tiger Eye — a banded stone whose gold and brown lines move with the light as the piece turns. Day to day, it is hard and takes a good polish, so it survives daily wear better than most stones. For the obsidian, the behaviour matters more than the finish: it takes a very high polish but is more brittle than crystalline stone, so it chips rather than scratches. Inside the piece, the silver-tone metal is a bright cool-toned metal finish, plated rather than solid silver. Handled often, the finish holds up well day to day, though a plated layer thins gradually where it rubs. The copper appears as a warm reddish metal with a soft, low-glare surface. Over months of wear, it darkens toward a brown patina with wear and skin contact, which some owners prefer and others polish back.

The piece lists five configurations, including “Yellow Tiger Eye Golden Pi Xiu”, “Tiger Eye Gold Pi Xiu” and “Yellow Tiger Eye Silvery Pi Xiu”. The photographs and the written summary carry the same detail, so nothing about the selected piece is left to assumption. Balance is a personal intention carried at the wrist, not an effect the materials produce. The photographed piece is a representative example; natural variation in the selected piece is expected. Final measurements, availability and the preparation window are all confirmed in writing before payment.

Care

Wipe it dry and store it separately; nothing beyond avoiding long soaking is needed. Avoid impact at edges and store it separately so the polished surface is not marked. Keep it away from water, perfume and abrasive cloths so the finish lasts longer. Wipe it dry after wear and store it away from damp air; polish only with a copper-safe cloth if you want the original brightness. A soft dry cloth after each wear is usually enough; store it separately to limit contact marks.
