Meaning, material & care

The details behind this piece.

Turquoise gives the design its starting point: a blue-to-green stone, usually opaque, often carrying a darker matrix web across the surface. The aquamarine answers with a pale blue-to-green transparent stone, lightly toned rather than saturated, which keeps the palette from settling into a single note. It takes the form of a compact hanging piece, and it belongs to Lhasa Moments, a series built around highland light, stone colour and architectural lines. The mountain motif takes the form of a ridgeline silhouette. High ground recurs throughout this studio’s design language, and the profile is used here as a way of holding a landscape in mind rather than as a claim about where the piece was made.

Each material behaves differently, so it is worth knowing how the parts age before you choose. Turquoise — an opaque blue-green stone, with a darker matrix webbing that shifts piece to piece. Day to day, being soft and slightly porous, it prefers to be kept clear of hard contact. Aquamarine is a different case in wear: it is a relatively hard stone that holds a clean polish, though long soaking dulls the surface. Inside the piece, the agate is a banded stone that stays faintly translucent, so each layer picks up light differently. Handled often, it takes daily knocks without dulling, though a thin edge can still chip against stone or metal. The textile cord appears as a tight woven cord with a matte, slightly fibrous surface. Over months of wear, it stays soft against the skin and holds a knot well, but a daily-worn strand will fray where it rubs a clasp.

One configuration is listed — Labradorite (32*43*53 mm) — and that is the piece confirmed from the current photographs. Anything not visible in the photographs is answered against the actual piece before you decide. Protection is presented as cultural context and a personal reminder, not a guaranteed result. Because these are natural materials, expect small differences in colour and pattern between the photo and your piece. Nothing is charged until the exact piece and its measurements have been confirmed with you in writing.

Care

Keep it away from perfume, sunscreen, soap and household cleaners, none of which the stone tolerates well. Keep it away from prolonged water and household chemicals and wipe it dry after wear. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth and store it separately so the polish is not scratched by other jewellery. Keep it dry, avoid perfume and household chemicals, and replace the cord once the fibres begin to lift. Store the piece separately so it does not scratch against harder jewellery.
