Meaning, material & care

The details behind this piece.

Start with the cinnabar: a deep red material with a dense, almost matte surface. The second note is the silver-tone metal — a bright silver-coloured metal finish rather than solid silver. Physically it is a strand that sits at the wrist. The piece belongs to Lhasa Moments, a series built around highland light, stone colour and architectural lines. The pi xiu appears as a compact seated creature figure. It is a traditional Chinese motif, used here for the strength of its silhouette and its place in that visual tradition.

The individual materials are described below, since each has a different tolerance for water, light and knocks. Cinnabar needs a separate note: the colour is even and strong, and the surface is firm but dislikes abrasion. The silver-tone metal appears as a bright cool-toned metal finish, plated rather than solid silver. Over months of wear, the finish holds up well day to day, though a plated layer thins gradually where it rubs. Textile Cord — a closely braided cord whose matte surface shows the weave up close. In everyday use, it softens further with handling, and a strand worn every day will eventually lift where it crosses a metal edge.

The piece lists three configurations, namely “Red”, “DarkRed” and “Black”. The available fit is 5.5–6.7 in (14–17 cm) wrist circumference. Ask us for a photograph on a measured wrist if the difference between two options is unclear. The balance theme is symbolic, and the meaning it holds is the wearer’s own. Slight differences in shade, inclusion and grain between pieces are inherent to the materials. Final measurements, availability and the preparation window are all confirmed in writing before payment.

Care

Avoid water, heat and household chemicals, and store the piece separately to prevent scuffing. Keep it away from water, perfume and abrasive cloths so the finish lasts longer. Keep it dry, avoid perfume and household chemicals, and replace the cord once the fibres begin to lift. Take it off before swimming, bathing or washing up; prolonged water is the most common cause of avoidable wear. A soft dry cloth after each wear is usually enough; store it separately to limit contact marks.
