Meaning, material & care

The details behind this piece.

The silver-tone metal carries the design, and it is a bright silver-coloured metal finish rather than solid silver. The textile cord provides the counterweight, being a tight woven cord with a matte, slightly fibrous surface. The proportions are kept to a strand that sits at the wrist, and the design belongs to Lhasa Moments, a series built around highland light, stone colour and architectural lines. The Buddha motif is rendered as a seated figure in shallow relief. It is drawn from Buddhist visual tradition and gives the design a composed, symmetrical centre; its meaning sits with the wearer rather than in any promised outcome.

The piece mixes several materials, and each one has its own habits in wear. The silver-tone metal is a bright cool-toned metal finish, plated rather than solid silver. Worn regularly, the finish holds up well day to day, though a plated layer thins gradually where it rubs. Textile Cord — a closely braided cord whose matte surface shows the weave up close. Day to day, it softens further with handling, and a strand worn every day will eventually lift where it crosses a metal edge.

The piece lists six configurations, including “Golden Chinese Coin Red Cord”, “Silvery Chinese Coin Red Cord” and “Golden Chinese Coin Dark Red Cord”. The photographs and the written summary carry the same detail, so nothing about the selected piece is left to assumption. Reflection and stillness are treated here as symbolic associations, and the meaning rests with the wearer. The finish is worked by hand, and a patina or a matte surface will not repeat identically from one piece to the next. We confirm the current piece, the finished dimensions and the lead time in writing before any payment.

Care

Keep it away from water, perfume and abrasive cloths so the finish lasts longer. Keep it dry, avoid perfume and household chemicals, and replace the cord once the fibres begin to lift. Water, perfume and cleaning products are the three things most likely to shorten its life. Wipe it after wear, store it dry and away from direct sun, and it will need very little else.
