The first decision in this design was the lapis lazuli, a deep blue stone, usually with flecks of gold-tone pyrite and white calcite through it. Physically it is a hanging piece that sits at the collarbone. The piece belongs to Lhasa Moments, a series built around highland light, stone colour and architectural lines. The mountain motif takes the form of a ridgeline silhouette. High ground recurs throughout this studio’s design language, and the profile is used here as a way of holding a landscape in mind rather than as a claim about where the piece was made.
The materials do not age at the same rate, and that difference is worth setting out. Lapis Lazuli needs a separate note: it is a softer stone than quartz and will dull where it is rubbed repeatedly.
The fit is set from the measurement you supply, so nothing is assumed. If two options are close, say how you plan to wear the piece and we will say which one suits it better. What the motif means is cultural context, and any personal reading of it stays with the wearer. Bead tone, matrix and grain will not repeat exactly from one piece to the next, and that is normal. Availability, the final measurements and the preparation window are confirmed with you in writing before payment.
Care
Keep it away from water, soap, perfume and household cleaners. Remove it before a shower or a swim, and dry it fully if it does get wet. Wipe it after wear, store it dry and away from direct sun, and it will need very little else.
