Meaning, material & care

The details behind this piece.

Malachite gives the design its starting point: a deep green stone with concentric banded patterns. The tiger eye answers with a golden-brown banded stone that shifts and brightens as the piece turns, which keeps the palette from settling into a single note. It takes the form of a long bead strand built for looping or wearing long, and it belongs to the Dzi-style bead series, where the bead pattern leads the design and the companion materials support it. The Buddha motif is rendered as a seated figure in shallow relief. It is drawn from Buddhist visual tradition and gives the design a composed, symmetrical centre; its meaning sits with the wearer rather than in any promised outcome.

Each material behaves differently, so it is worth knowing how the parts age before you choose. Malachite is a different case in wear: it is a soft stone that dulls with abrasion and is best kept to pieces worn away from hard contact. The tiger eye is a banded stone whose gold and brown lines move with the light as the piece turns. Against the skin, it is hard and takes a good polish, so it survives daily wear better than most stones. Inside the piece, the agate is a banded stone that stays faintly translucent, so each layer picks up light differently. Handled often, it takes daily knocks without dulling, though a thin edge can still chip against stone or metal.

It is offered as Tiger Eye, which is the configuration shown in the photographs. If two options are close, say how you plan to wear the piece and we will say which one suits it better. What this motif offers is a moment to slow down, framed as cultural reference rather than as an outcome. The photographed piece is a representative example; natural variation in the selected piece is expected. Final measurements, availability and the preparation window are all confirmed in writing before payment.

Care

Keep it away from water, acids and household cleaners, which can damage the surface. Wipe it dry and store it separately; nothing beyond avoiding long soaking is needed. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth and store it separately so the polish is not scratched by other jewellery. Avoid soaking it, and keep perfume and household cleaners off the surface. Put it on last and take it off first, and keep it in its own pouch between wears.
