Meaning, material & care

The details behind this piece.

The yak bone leads here, and it is an ivory-toned organic material, matte and slightly porous, with natural grain marks. Set against that, the bone is a pale, matte organic material with visible grain and a slight tonal difference between beads. The form is a long bead strand built for looping or wearing long, and it belongs to the Dzi-style bead series, where the bead pattern leads the design and the companion materials support it.

Each component is listed with the way it behaves, so nothing about the ageing comes as a surprise. For the yak bone, the behaviour matters more than the finish: it is light, warm to the touch and slightly absorbent, so it ages fastest where it meets skin. Bone needs a separate note: it is light in the hand and warm to the touch, but softer than stone and it dislikes knocks.

We ask for a measurement rather than offering a generic size, and confirm the finished fit in writing. Anything not visible in the photographs is answered against the actual piece before you decide. Abundance is a cultural association here, not a claim about money or outcome. Each selected piece has its own colour balance and marking, so treat the photograph as a close guide rather than an exact sample. The piece, its dimensions and the preparation window are set out in writing first, and only then is payment taken.

Care

Keep it dry, out of prolonged sun, and never soak it. Keep it dry, out of prolonged sun, and wipe it gently; ask before using any cleaner. Water, perfume and cleaning products are the three things most likely to shorten its life. Wipe it after wear, store it dry and away from direct sun, and it will need very little else.
